FS#2052 - Add Markdown syntax option for task descriptions

“Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain text formatting syntax designed so that it can be converted to HTML and many other formats using a tool by the same name.[6][7] Markdown is often used to format readme files, for writing messages in online discussion forums, and to create rich text using a plain text editor.” -

Markdown existed in Flyspray until it was removed 2006.
You can find related task when you search markdown in closed task.

It will not included in Flyspray1.0 . But sure it is interesting to have it back as content plugin again.

But first the possible transitions between ckeditor/html and dokuwiki content must full working, then adding other content plugins can be made.

So use dokuwiki plugin until markdown is available again for Flyspray.

Project Manager

Dokuwiki itself has some markdown related plugins: :

<markdown>my markdown</markdown>

handles markdown-blocks as markdown, similiar to the use of

<code>my code< /code>

geshi syntax highlighting.

Attention: These dokuwiki plugins were never tested within Flyspray. Mixing existing tasks written dokuwiki and new task with markdowku may get you in trouble.

How dokuwiki syntax and markdown syntax of markdowku can live together on existing installs should be researched first. Further there are slighlty different variants of markdown in the wild (github vs original markdown for instance)
