FS#2116 - Error with email notification

I have a major problem. At the first I thought that problem is on my server - Windows OS, IIS. But now when I have second bug tracker site on Apache server and error is the same I know that this is not server error but bug tracker error.

How can I help that we resolve this problem?

If e-mail need’s to be sent I got blank white page and nothing happens.

In attachment is my bug tracker with installer (setup) folder. If this somehow helps it?

Version which is used is 1.0 (latest on web) (edit by peterdd: was a mix of older Flyspray versions). The problem is that nothing works because e-mails are not working..

Some ideas to locate the problem:

  • Is the test with apache server also on Windows OS?
  • When you register as a new user, does this user receives the registration code?
  • Have you tried a second test install on the same server with similiar settings and with only minimal database content (lets say 3 test users with different existing email addresses of popular mail providers, 2 tasks, assign users to task or notification list and check if they are notified if another user edits the task.)
  • Is the Email Test button working in the admin/prefs area?
  • What are your Email settings at admin/prefs? (censor it)

Accually don't have the same screen settings as you have?

Do I miss something?

Is the test with apache server also on Windows OS?

Apache is not on Windows server, it's on dedicated hosting service on Linux.

When you register as a new user, does this user receives the registration code?

Nothing regarding e-mails working. So no, I disabled user registration via e-mail, or in other hand no user could register it. I then enable every user in Admin section.

Have you tried a second test install on the same server with similiar settings and with only minimal database content (lets say 3 test users with different existing email addresses of popular mail providers, 2 tasks, assign users to task or notification list and check if they are notified if another user edits the task.)

If I tried to install clean version there is problem regarding installation - because composer do not work. On Windows server (IIS) I have admin rights and remote desktop, but on Linux (Apache) I only what I have is FTP and MySQL admin access. So composer installation was problem - I tried to copy already installed Flyspray and reinstall it - and it was working... Only e-mails not.

Is the Email Test button working in the admin/prefs area?

This is missing in my admin section, so I can not test it... :(

What are your Email settings at admin/prefs? (censor it)

Look attachment in previous comment.

Aehm, your SShopBt.zip contains files of very old Flyspray installs too and your screenshot is not from Flyspray 1.0 RC.

  • e.g. there is no /templates folder, there is only /themes and sub folders
  • and there is no /adodb directory anymore →handled by composer install in vendor/-directory
  • The file timestamps in your SShopBt.zip are older than of flyspray-1.0-rc. There are files with changes that have newer timestamps than your zip

My flyspray root directory looks like this:

Simple Shop commented on 08.04.2016 10:57

So what now... should I try just to copy the new files (add missing files)?

Because clean install is not working - don't understand concept of using composer which is obviosly not working...

Tell me what version of PHP you are using and I can try to package a .zip with complete vendors libs included, so no composer stuff is needed for peoples without shell access on their web hosting.

This is also on my working list for providing prepackaged releases, see the http://www.flyspray.org/docs/download/

I'm at work now, so probably can do it tomorrow in my freetime.

Windows OS (IIS): edit:removed link
Linux OS (Apache): edit:removed link

I hope that this is what you need it? When I can delete info PHP file report me.

On SShopBT.zip is everything what I have except config - which I did not include it..

removed 1.0 rc info from task description, because error was hit with a scrambled mix of older flyspray versions. Will put version info back if the same error is reproducible with real Flyspray 1.0-rc

Simple Shop commented on 08.04.2016 11:22

OK.

PS. Thanks in advance..

yes, I stored the 2 phpinfo's. You can remove the files now.

Mmh, your linux uses php5.4.*, your windows php5.6.*

I try to package for php5.4.* first, maybe at late evening today.

OK, great...

I released now Flyspray 1.0 RC1

I also made precompiled files with 3rd party libraries available:
http://www.flyspray.org/docs/download/

The steps to build from source release on github are now documented in task FS#2040

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 05:40

I updated files to 1.0 rc1.

Try to update database - but no update was found.

Then I delete "setup" folder.

Set again SMTP server and I got this error (attachment).

For every new task I got the same error. Now is no blank web page.

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 05:45

But with gmail setting all is fine.

But before test I need to click "save" before performing test.

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 05:51

Also, now is problem with attachments.

Previous attachment can not be opened - but files are there, for new added task attachment is accually missing (but was added).

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 05:58

All other seems to be fine, just attachments are problem.

Older tasks - can not open.
New tasks - file is not uploaded.

I'm working that on Apache (Linux) server.

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 09:48

I can provide you also the complete database + files..

Simple Shop commented on 11.04.2016 11:28

hmm... The problem is only with .png and picture files.

PDF files are opened OK. So maybe there is problem with showing files?

Project Manager
peterdd commented on 15.04.2016 14:09

Image showing is another problem, maybe server config related? For this a other task should be created.

Have you found out the email differences between gmail and domenca.com/ .si mail settings?

I tried also setting up smtp with an external smtp server and it worked with all settings. (no/SSL/TLS)

Email configuration can contain more required options than our Flyspray form is providing. Maybe your smtp host needs more options set (ports, auth methods?)..
