FS#2124 - Default avatar can't be restored

I unchecked the avatar allowed in the admin panel. I checked it back and set size to 50.
I have to upload an Avatar picture to restore it, but the previous avatar looked like to be html avatar.

Is there a way to restore the html one ?

note: ‘default avatar’ is currently just that guy from the fontawesome webfonts:

<i class="fa fa-user"></i>

I played a bit with the settings with v1.0-rc1 too and found there are several minor issues:

  • The value for the max pixel width is lost if you uncheck profile images (enable_avatars). (will be set to 0). So if you reenable avatar images, the setting is 0 instead of the previous values (e.g the default 50). The reason the values of 'gravatars' and max_avatar_size are not sent by the form. The form handler on the server should not modify that 2 admin settings in that case. (bug)
  • There is currently not possible to 'unset' the avatar image of a user, so:
  1. Just overwrite by uploading another avatar image. (upload a transparent or similiar looking to the 'anon guy' as temporarly workaround)
  2. Or remove the avatar image file from avatars/ directory corresponding to entry flyspray_users.profile_image in database by sql for the user.
  3. Or remove the profile_image entry from profile_image by SQL
    UPDATE flyspray_users SET profile_image='' WHERE user_id=1234

if your user_id is 1234 (not recommended)

There was until now no requirement to implement unsetting profile_image. (new feature)

A related thing with avatar sizes is discussed a bit here: https://github.com/Flyspray/flyspray/pull/549/files too.

  • Another small issue is if a user uploads an image that is not same height as width. The image will be resized to the quadratic size so it looks distorted. Solutions could be to provide a 'crop and resize'-workflow feature for the user or added blurred paddings. (new feature, very low priority)

I deleted the profile_image in flyspray_users. It works.
