FS#2490 - Reset Password's Username field has maxlength of 20 - too short

I’ve set up an account with a username longer than 20 characters, but can’t reset the password because the
flyspray/index.php?do=lostpw
page username field has maxlength=”20” The maxlength for a new user registration seems to be 32 characters.

A related concern is that when setting up the default/admin user on first load of the system, I can use an email address as username (always my preference), but it’s actually not a valid username to create for others thereafter. Consider allowing ‘@’ character in usernames.

Email address as username: Separate topic, slightly related to FS#1812, thought you can use email address as alternative to username at the login form (so it cools down your requirement) but quick test shows - currently not.

Allowing @ sign in username will not be added. The @ sign will be used for mentioning a user in descriptions or comments.

But login with email address instead of usernme is a nice to have maybe in future, but there are some obstacles to consider:

  • multiple email addresses per user (and their validation)
  • mix of multiple authentication methods (normal, LDAP, OAuth2, ..) in one install
