I will try to release 1.0-rc10 at end of march 2021.
Please note that 1.0-rc9 is the latest stable release.
But why you then use the rc (release candidate) suffix you may ask?
Well, the reason is the internal update/upgrade procedure of Flyspray that hindered me to just do 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 etc releases yet.
For each normal release number like 1.0, 1.0.1, 1.1 etc there is a separate update directory in setup/upgrade/ that handles install and upgrade from the previous version. It is the inexperience with that area by me that hindered me to do all steps for a 1.1 for instance.
Instead I choose simply updating stuff in the setup/upgrade/1.0/ folder and take care that only new things are added so rerunning the 1.0/ upgrade procedure is ok when upgrading for example 1.0-rc9 to 1.0-rc10
2020 was also a very quiet year for Flyspray as I put my time on a covid-19 triggered project.
Just tell what is/are your biggest pain issue that should be fixed in 1.0-rc10
Flyspray 1.0-rc10 will contain upgraded ADOdb supporting PHP 8, minimal PHP version will be PHP 5.6
@peterdd: Thanks for your reply!
The problem is that a RC version is not "stable", the last stable is 0.9.9.7…
Please look my other tickets too…
Hello @Neustradamus, give rc9 a try! Of curse, it is not named "stable". But you will see, this works very stable.
Please really see to release the 1.0…
Some people, organizations will not install a RC version in production…
Please read : http://semver.org/
Note: It is not logic to add new features in RC…
1.0-rc10 is out.
If you are upgrading from older version, please wait for 1.0-rc11 which I hope to release this week. (see FS#2637 and FS#2636)
I also hope that 1.0-rc11 is the last rc-release followed by a real 1.0 or 1.1.
As I wrote before, using this rc-releases was a workaround and had technical reasons. So it is more theory vs. real world.
