Flyspray

I have done a very quick bit of work to bring ldap (through active directory) authentication to flyspray for our implementation in the office. I hope it will be of use to others. There is a readme.txt inside talking through the process and the patch to apply. My plan is to expand on this and make it part of the setup process but this will take a bit longer.

Hi, in my free time of the last few days I begun developping a Docker container: https://github.com/blu-base/flyspray-docker. I derived it from a nextcloud docker container… For now, I limited my focus on an apache/debian buster container. I’d be happy to contribute the project to the official placeholder when it is ready.

Anyhow, in the entrypoint script, I use some environment variables to create the flyspray.conf.php from scratch. and would now need to populate the database. I understand i have to use the respective xml scheme as the setup/index.php does.

I am not experienced with php and database applications and would like to ask you for advice how to proceed efficiently.

Since the current setup is indented to be interactive in the browser, i would need to use a cli tool or a purposely-build php script to do the same task on the command line/on container startup. But this seems to me this would be code duplication and introduce more maintenance work.

• Is it possible to hook into only some of the functions of the setup/index.php?
• What could be the next best approach to populate the db on first start?
• Would it be a viable solution in trying to further modularize the setup - allowing to run parts on cli, like nextcloud’s occ tool?

I have been working with Eventum (http://www.mysql.org/downloads/other/eventum/) for quite sometime now and in contrast, I like Flyspray for its simplicity and practicality. But one thing I badly miss (and something that Eventum scores high) is a Workflow Engine. If not a sophisticated W.E., I (as an Admin / Manager) should be able define role-based state transition rules of the tasks reported in a particular project. For example, I should be able to implement the following scenario:

1. For a “Developer”, the subsequent tasks from various states. Likewise for other roles
2. “Developer” should not be able close out the bug reports. He/she can only flag them as implemented. The “Reporter” of the bugs or the “Manager” alone should be able to close out issues
3. ..
4. .. it will go on like that

This feature, in my opinion, is very crucial for corporate organizations to give a serious consideration to Flyspray.

Adding key support for each project instead of using the prefix FS#<task_id>

With all informations on flyspray, it’s possible to generate a gantt chart.

Everything is currently hard-coded. Create a plugin system that allows a module to be simply "dropped into" a plugins/ directory, enabled in the options, and have the plugin just work.

Possibilities might include alternative methods of notification, perhaps a documentation subsystem, or even simple things like voting for tasks.

The user should NOT have to edit existing Flyspray source code to make a plugin work.

A very useful feature would be to be able to manage a list of custom fields by project, and to be able to add and fill any of these fields to any task.
So we could be able to search on the presence and content of a field.
We could be able to sort the tasks by this field when they are displayed in a list.

A use example is when you create a bug by reference to another external list. It can be very useful to have a field that references a line in the external list.

On the roadmap it would make life a lot easier if it was possible to drag and drop tasks into versions.

Quick anwser: enable swap partition on your server.

Tried upgrading a rc4-dev to rc5-dev/rc6/flyspray-master on a virtual server with 500MB RAM and php5.6.30 on the commandline (debian)

After file upgrade, I wanted also update the vendor stuff according to composer.json changes.

But surprisingly this failed:

php composer.phar update

and also after

php composer.phar selfupdate

to version Composer version 1.5.2 2017-09-11 the memory limit bug exists:

300 MB not enough for a handful of php package installations? wtf, but didn’t dig deeper..

I temporarly solved the problem by making a swap partition on this vServer like suggested at
https://getcomposer.org/doc/articles/troubleshooting.md#proc-open-fork-failed-errors

Full Flyspray release download files do not needs to fiddle with composer.

Maybe an entry for the FAQ

That way you can just protect the setup routes after installation, etc.

And have a much less cumbersome .htaccess file.

And take sensitive files outside of the server path and not risk letting them get out in the public

Then you can gracefully drop support of old MySQL extension AND drop the need for password compat, since BCRYPT and password_hash are built into PHP from version 5.5 onwards

1. Where is the best place to achieve this quickly as “hack hardcode” 2. Im not php developer, is there any php lib in flyspray todo quick POST request without installing any additional lib.

When I am at the global projects page at index.php?do=admin&area=editallusers and now select a project from the dropdown menu at the top right, I get an error

(according to the the translation area this is key 813: error17 Invalid PM area.)

If I select the project again, the projects start page will be shown correctly.

In Admins Toolbox (Project preferences) i choose language de. The file exists in folder lang. But only english is shown. the same for french and so on. No really changes.

I was wondering: is there a standard URL for “My tasks”? I have an internal website and I would like to create a menu with a few submenus (Add task and My tasks) that link to FlySpray. However if I place the URL for My Tasks (being logged in with my user account), and copy this link to the menu, all others that click the submenu My Tasks, are seeing the tasks that where opened by me or where I am assigned, not that user that is connected on Flyspray with his account on his PC.

So that’s why I am asking for a generic URL of My Tasks, so I can place it on this middle-site?

the old php mysql extension is long ago reached its demise, why bother supporting it?

I also see in the database connector that your supporting MySQL/PDO - why not settle on that? If the queries aren’t MySQL specific, it becomes easier to support other DB’s, etc.

why not store all the user preferences in preferences or user_prefernces? Then users can just be simple username, email, password?
