Flyspray

A very useful feature would be to be able to manage a list of custom fields by project, and to be able to add and fill any of these fields to any task.
So we could be able to search on the presence and content of a field.
We could be able to sort the tasks by this field when they are displayed in a list.

A use example is when you create a bug by reference to another external list. It can be very useful to have a field that references a line in the external list.

Everything is currently hard-coded. Create a plugin system that allows a module to be simply "dropped into" a plugins/ directory, enabled in the options, and have the plugin just work.

Possibilities might include alternative methods of notification, perhaps a documentation subsystem, or even simple things like voting for tasks.

The user should NOT have to edit existing Flyspray source code to make a plugin work.

I have a major problem. At the first I thought that problem is on my server - Windows OS, IIS. But now when I have second bug tracker site on Apache server and error is the same I know that this is not server error but bug tracker error.

How can I help that we resolve this problem?

If e-mail need’s to be sent I got blank white page and nothing happens.

In attachment is my bug tracker with installer (setup) folder. If this somehow helps it?

Version which is used is 1.0 (latest on web) (edit by peterdd: was a mix of older Flyspray versions). The problem is that nothing works because e-mails are not working..

Edit 2021-03-15: Only effects Flyspray source releases on Windows where running composer is required. Releases with included dependencies are not effected!

I have changed the htaccess.dist into .htaccess and modified to force https.
However, despite having https activated on my site I cannot get Flyspray running, it’s waiting forever.When I abort I get a page without makeup. I have all other applications like cms and wiki running under https, so it is something I have not done in the flyspray configs obviously (as this site is running https too). But could you give me a hint?

I installed flyspray in a subdirectory, if that is something to know about...

I have been working with Eventum (http://www.mysql.org/downloads/other/eventum/) for quite sometime now and in contrast, I like Flyspray for its simplicity and practicality. But one thing I badly miss (and something that Eventum scores high) is a Workflow Engine. If not a sophisticated W.E., I (as an Admin / Manager) should be able define role-based state transition rules of the tasks reported in a particular project. For example, I should be able to implement the following scenario:

1. For a “Developer”, the subsequent tasks from various states. Likewise for other roles
2. “Developer” should not be able close out the bug reports. He/she can only flag them as implemented. The “Reporter” of the bugs or the “Manager” alone should be able to close out issues
3. ..
4. .. it will go on like that

This feature, in my opinion, is very crucial for corporate organizations to give a serious consideration to Flyspray.

Adding key support for each project instead of using the prefix FS#<task_id>

Hi, in my free time of the last few days I begun developping a Docker container: https://github.com/blu-base/flyspray-docker. I derived it from a nextcloud docker container… For now, I limited my focus on an apache/debian buster container. I’d be happy to contribute the project to the official placeholder when it is ready.

Anyhow, in the entrypoint script, I use some environment variables to create the flyspray.conf.php from scratch. and would now need to populate the database. I understand i have to use the respective xml scheme as the setup/index.php does.

I am not experienced with php and database applications and would like to ask you for advice how to proceed efficiently.

Since the current setup is indented to be interactive in the browser, i would need to use a cli tool or a purposely-build php script to do the same task on the command line/on container startup. But this seems to me this would be code duplication and introduce more maintenance work.

• Is it possible to hook into only some of the functions of the setup/index.php?
• What could be the next best approach to populate the db on first start?
• Would it be a viable solution in trying to further modularize the setup - allowing to run parts on cli, like nextcloud’s occ tool?

Need to be able to email back and forth to communicate with flyspray. Ideally flyspray can be CC'ed on an email or can replay to a notification which would add the body and/or attachments to the thread. This goes back to reworking the way people interact with and view tickets

There should be some help at the configuration sections for setting up jabber/xmpp notifications.

How someone can test it?

Must the admin setup his own jabber/xmpp server or are there recommended servers?

I registered with psi+ instant messager as peterdd@ubuntu-jabber.de at ubuntu-jabber.de for testing
and configured it here in my account too, but got no jabber messages.

Email notifications works and I set up both sending.

My version of PHP still shows deprecation warnings with flyspray.

Have all mysql.connect instances been removed? The connect will be removed from PHP soon and will cause problems.

I would like to restrict certain projects from view from normal users (Basic group.) I couldn’t find out a way to do it. I could restrict them from viewing tasks, which is good, but it would be nice to hide the project entirely from the Overview screen.

When we have several projects into flyspray, it's hard to see the project where I am when I add several tasks.
It's necessary to read the text.

To improve this, I think that it's a good idea if it's possible to add a color or an image with the logo project next to project title into web page. It will more simple to know where we are when we use flyspray.

I understand this is likely due to some sort of XSS CSRF protection, but the delay doesn’t appear to be long enough to be useful for a lengthy comment to be posted. I’ve now lost two detailed comments in our tracker because the software threw everything out and generated a meaningless error.

Further, attempting to do the normal thing and making the browser resubmit the page results in Flyspray throwing “Error #3” something something repeated action and causing a redirect to the homepage.

Surely there has to be a better way to handle this that doesn’t incur data loss?

I gave a role the following privileges:

• view own tasks

• modify own tasks

• view comments

• add comments

A user with the assigned role can still modify the task descriptions and task details. (I want that user to only be able to add comments.)
I think there is a bug.
Is there a fix or walk around?

No lost, you can try it already works but it is not the default.

https://github.com/organizations/Flyspray/settings/profile → “Rename organization” and replace Flyspray → flyspray.

My project has 37 pending requests. Each has a set of Accept / Deny buttons next to it.

If I click on Deny, a textbox pops up for me to enter “Reason for denial” but the entire page immediately regreshes/reloads back to the task list before I have a chance to enter the reason and submit it.

I can always “Accept” the request implicitly by going to the appropriate task and closing/re-opening it, but there’s no way to “deny” something without going through this UI path.

Should be able to reference a ticket # when committing code, and then have a way to input your repository path to flyspray, and let it search all your commits for ticket #'s. Then should parse it, and have a link to that commit within the ticket.

Since we have a lot of tasks pending, our team leader wants a specific status (let’s say: Waiting for dispatch) to be marked with a green background in tasklist.

I use a personal email server with a self-signed certificate (i’m not sure if it’s possible to use my https certificate for that? i don’t even kind of understand what all I did to get this email server setup, and I don’t really want to mess with it... especially since my https certificate comes from Let’s Encrypt... so i might have to muck with the email server every 60 days ... not sure?) ..

anyway, when I try to connect to it with Flyspray, I get above the Test Email button, “Completely unexpected exception: Unable to connect with TLS encryption
This should never happend, please inform Flyspray Developers”

Most systems have a way to override and accept an invalid cert, but I’m not seeing anything obvious about doing that with Flyspray. Does a function for this already exist, or do we need a way to do that? (alternatively, I would accept help in properly configuring my email lol)

Steps done to create the problem:
- Login as Admin or User, with name “Admin”, not with email.

Experienced behavior:

Currently, only one owner can be applied per category (at least, that's what the tooltip implies). The ability to add more than one user, a user group, or a mix of the two to a category would be ideal.

Often times, more than one programmer will work on and maintain a feature that cannot be divided into subcategories with the various programmers dispersed accordingly. In such cases, setting all such programmers as owners of the category is beneficial in that they will all receive notifications.

Also, having a parent category's owner receive alerts if no owners are specified for a sub-category benefits from this ability. I may have a "User Interface" group that has all of my UI developers in it; assigning the group to the "User Interface" root category means all relevant developers find out about a new issue that was not directed elsewhere.

One potential conflict does arise with another Flyspray feature. If "Auto-assign a task to the category owner" is enabled, care must be taken to assign no users or the first user to the task; personally, I would prefer no one being assigned and seeing the wording changed to "Auto-assign a task to sole category owners". Worst case scenario would be another option asking if no one or the first user would be assigned to a task in that instance; if a group is specified, the first user in the group would be chosen.
