When I scroll down the page to see more of the task list and then click on one of the column headings to sot by this heading, the answer page doesn't scroll down to the table.

I think there are 2 technical solutions for that:

1. set an name/id a-anchor on top of the table and on each column heading link add for example '#tasklist'.

2. add a js-sorter with complete extra search and sort ajax-backend with e.g. libs from http://datatables.net/ This requires aleso writing a server side handler for taking the ajax requests (respecting user permissions!) and is only usable if js in enabled in browser. So this second solution can only be a luxury comfort function.

I just closed a task and wrote the following into the comment for closing:

"See also F.S.#.14" (of course without the points). When I then click the link in the comment box (below the task details) I'm redirected to:
"http:/flyspray.stefan-herz%0Aog.tld/index.php?do=details&task_id=%0A14". No matter if #14 is closed or not.
It worked with Firefox.

Any suggestions?

Due to the needed implementation of an anti csrf system into Flyspray 1.0,
this are a side effect issues we need to address:

Due the required replacement of action links to form buttons:

  • The user cannot just see anymore the target url of the action by hovering over the link. We can compensate that in the simpliest case by using the title-tag as additional info to the user. Trust not full reestabilished that way, but better than nothing and user has fear to click a form button.

Javascriptless CSS3-toggles:

  • Some clickable labels don’t show pointer icon when :hover. CSS issue, easy fix.

maybe yet fixed in 1.0 dev, but here bugs.flyspray.org my account is shown twice for selection if u edit a task.

Internally in the form also with the same id, so probably not a big problem.

I registered some years ago, maybe this year jordan(?) added me again or with another email adress? Maybe I have two addresses under on account here, which is a feature, not a bug.

But for the assignee list it should “group by user_id”.

I find it irritating to have the oldest activity on the right side and newest activity on the left side of the small activity bars.

There is also no time scale description. This could be added by showin it on :hover to keep the simple appearance.

A complete new feature would be to replace the image generation by rendering the bars in the html in the same request, e.g by inline svg or canvas element. This would enable adding some interactivity with the activity bars..
A related feature request is FS#1991 (project progress)

Keyboard navigation is not documented

At least there is no hint in the interface which keyboard shortcuts are available for fast navigation between task list and task details view.

Due to the dropping of the cookie storage for remembering last search or last selected task in favor of not interfering when multiple flyspray browser tabs are open (with e.g. different projects) ,
the caret list browsing with 'j','k','o' and details view isn't useful at moment.

  1. keyboard based navigation must be documented somewhere, e.g. by providing hints (clickable icon for info or :hover ) at appropriate positions.
  2. navigation flow and technical realisation reviewed for keyboard power users

Edit: Currently handled by js event handler:

  • j move cursor down in task list
  • k move cursor up in task list
  • o open current selected task in task list
  • n next task on task details page
  • p previous task on task details page
grep -r 'accesskey' *

Current accesskeys (browserspecific + key):

  • a double usage for new task and newmultitask. Must hit [Enter] to open one of them; on newmultitask page it adds a new row.
  • e edit task on task details page
  • f copy firstline to the other rows on new multitask page
  • l show loginbox or logs you off
  • m toggle mysearchesbox

It's old. There has been a newer version 2.0. Even that one is not supported anymore, although some documents still remain available. The calendar component relies on its language translations files to be complete, or it breaks. Unfortunately, as I found out a few weeks ago, they are not, after switching the default language from english to my native one. Without having a good replacement for it, some of the translations for flyspray itself we've been getting lately are half-way unusable. Not for an ordinary user, but for anyone actually having to edit a task and its due date.

122.09.201523.09.2015 Task Description

On some forms, when the user presses the reload button of this browser, the POST submit can be resubmitted.

Browsers can warn about this (Chromium, Firefox, Konqueror tested and they show a warning dialog) before executing the second POST.
But people on Flyspray mailing list wrote they experienced double comments.

Simple solution is just HTTP GET redirects after a successful POST. (HTTP 303 or HTTP 302)
But maybe there is a better method than a second roundtrip always needed?

Success, Error, or Warn-messages to the user are stored in the $_SESSION variable for displaying on the second GET request.
But I think that this is a bit ... mmh... not perfect.

For example, I would like to have in the direct response at which position in a form an input error is, not just the message bar in the top center as it is currently that just dissappear after a few seconds.

Also take care the browser back button still works as expected for the user.

2058Backend/CoreBug ReportLowClosing of github.com 'Issues' featureNew

24.09.201524.09.2015 Task Description

As discussed with the team some time ago, a consolidation of places where issues are discussed is wanted.

One of the results was, that we do not want people post issues to github.com Issues and instead use our own bugs.flyspray.org
and to prefer "to eat our own dogfood" and a have central place to handle tasks.

As a result we tried to reduce the open issueas on github.com. I was in the process of moving 2 of still 7 open issues there to bugs.flyspray.org when suddenly the Issues on github.com were closed. :-( Now the last 5 issues there are lost at the moment for me and the audience, which where mostly informations to interested users, not bugs.

I think just closing it without an easy accessible alternative is not the best solution.

At least we should wait until the oauth2 authentication for github users should be implemented and setup on bugs.flyspray.org , so people browsing github.com, finding Flyspray project just can
"Login with github"-feature on bugs.flyspray.org.

The blocker to do this: Currently there is missing an option to "connect" an oauth "Login with github"- Login with an existend flyspray userlogin.

So that one userid in flyspray can:

  • login with username and password
  • login with one or more of his social accounts (github, facebook, microsoft, g+) if they are enabled (would it restrict to github.com accounts for bugs.flyspray.org)

While editing an existing task, there’s a “+” button you can click to add a comment as part of the edit. Unfortunately this is just a plaintext box instead of the HTML editor used everywhere else, so it’s impossible to get proper line/paragraph breaks if a comment is entered with this UI.

This problem makes it necessary to edit a task and add a comment as two separate steps, whereas in 0.9.9.6 it was possible to do them together in one step.

Note that this is the case with syntax_plugin=”none”. I don’t know if it’s also a problem when using other values for that setting.

2128Text RenderingBug ReportLowGeshi (part of dokuwiki plugin for code blocks) uses de...Confirmed
20%
2120.05.201616.06.2016 Task Description

The dokuwiki plugin uses a very old version of geshi for syntax highlighting which uses the deprecated /e modifier in preg_replace in two places rather than preg_replace_callback.

This can trigger warnings such as the following when initially parsing content which uses dokuwiki syntax and includes code:

PHP message: PHP Deprecated: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead in /home/phpapps/flyspray/plugins/dokuwiki/inc/geshi.php on line 2058

PHP message: PHP Deprecated: preg_replace(): The /e modifier is deprecated, use preg_replace_callback instead in /home/phpapps/flyspray/plugins/dokuwiki/inc/geshi.php on line 2067

This affects bugs.flyspray.org as well. Several hits came up on google when I search for the following due to the warnings having been displayed ahead of the page content (seen screenshot): flyspray preg_replace_callback

Because flyspray caches the results of processing dokuwiki content then the warnings don’t get emitted if the content has already been cached (so you may find that when you access the url in the screenshot that it doesn’t show the warnings unless you clear the cache entry for that task). Previews can get the warnings spat out as well if there are tagged code sections in the content.

I had a look at a more recent version of geshi (1.0.8.11 from sourceforge) and they had fixed that issue in it (presumably along with a lot of other stuff) so I tried replacing plugins/dokuwiki/inc/geshi.php and plugins/dokuwiki/inc/geshi/* with the 1.0.8.11 versions and that stopped the warnings. I haven’t extensively tested it, but it was processing stuff in code blocks correctly still on the couple of samples I tried.

I guess it’s a separate issue but the new flyspray theme doesn’t have any css styles to apply to the syntax highlighting (if you look at  FS#1107  you can see that, and in fact you can see it with the css bit below - if you inspect them with a browser dom inspector you can see that the genshi plugin has parsed and tagged the bits, but no styles are applied so its all just in the default colour). I can raise that as a separate task if worth doing? The following section in bluey stylesheet covered it I think:

.code .br0 {color:#6c6;}
.code .es0 {color:#009;font-weight:700;}
.code .kw1 {color:#b1b100;}
.code .kw2 {color:#000;font-weight:700;}

My tests showed that the html accesskey feature is not well and consistent supported by current web browsers and is quite cumbersome to use.
And it seems it will not be better in future..

The only solution I see dropping that feature or replacing them with simple single-key-event javascript listeners, like it is currently done with keys o, j, k, n, and p.

accesskeys in Flyspray I talk about:

  • l (current SHIFT+ALT+l Firefox) login dialog / logout
  • a (current SHIFT+ALT+a Firefox) add new task
  • m (current SHIFT+ALT+m Firefox) my searches
  • t (current SHIFT+ALT+t Firefox) focus taskid search
  • e (current SHIFT+ALT+e + Enter Firefox) edit task
  • x or y? (current SHIFT+ALT+y Firefox) close task
  • s (current SHIFT+ALT+s Firefox) save task

2142Backend/CoreBug ReportLowPost-authenticate redirect does not make use of baseurl...Unconfirmed
0%
28.06.201601.08.2016 Task Description

I run flyspray behind a reverse proxy with the front end url being https and with the actual back end server not being on a standard port and not using https.

Setting force_baseurl seems to sort most areas with flyspray’s url generation using that instead of picking up from $_SERVER, however post-authentication redirection does not do that it just processes redirect_to as is (which in my case means it picks up the protocol, name and port for the back end server rather than what’s set in force_baseurl).

./themes/CleanFS/templates/loginbox.tpl puts out $_SERVER[’REQUEST_URI‘] into a hidden redirect_to input field - on my setup on the front page that’s e.g. “/” or for a ticket url it would be “/index.php?do=details&task_id=999” so no protocol or hostname.

scripts/authenticate.php picks up that redirect_to value and just passes it to Flyspray::Redirect, which in turn calls FlySpray::absoluteURI on what it’s passed, and FlySpray::absoluteURI doesn’t use $baseurl to qualify the url.

Not sure what the best fix is - my suggestion would be that Redirect detects urls that aren’t fully qualified and adds the $baseurl on to the front of them, rather than calling absoluteURI (absoluteURI is used to set $baseurl if force_baseurl is unset, so that’s not appropriate to modify). Alternatively scripts/authenticate.php could check redirect_to and add $baseurl if needed.

117.10.201631.12.2017 Task Description

Geshi 1.0.8.17 from https://github.com/easybook/geshi is quite slow at the current integration of Flyspray v1.0-rc3 on the first run. (But any further read uses the cache.)

But it produces garbled output for xml code highlighting:

Example without xml, just format as preformatted code:

<table>blabla</table>

Or as php syntax highlighting (even if it doesn’t contain a real php-tag ;-) ):

<table>blabla</table>

Example with xml choosen as language:

blabla

The table tag is stripped away instead of converting the tag for output inside code/pre tags (by converting the < and > chars). Maybe just a configuration issue?

202.08.201702.08.2017 Task Description

The dokuwiki renderer automatic creates for each h(1-6) tag an html id attribute, but doesn’t ensure that this:

  • is not used by Flyspray templates
  • is unique across all tasks (tasklist summary/description mouseover!), id must be unique on a webpage.

Example: id=”footer” and id=”title” are used by the default CleanFS template for example.

id=”footer”

title

id=”title”

title

id=”title1”

title

id=”title2”

The original intention I think is to make dokuwiki content each h-section linkable, for instance by a “table of contents” at top of a wiki content page.
This is currently not used by the dokuwiki integrated in Flyspray, but could be in future.

Possible solution

Add the task_id to the generated id h(1-6) tags, for instance “d1234_footer” “d1234_title”

d - like description

(t1234 used for tags/labels id currently)

Visit https://bugs.flyspray.org/index.php?do=register in a private browser window (so you are logged out)

Put in an already taken username (e.g. Stefan or Stefan2)

Expected behavior:
Username gets red and a note appears that username already is taken

Experienced behavior:
Username gets green and registration of a new user proceeds with sending a notification mail with confirmation code.
After putting in the confirmation code in provided page, user gets presented a “username is already taken, choose another” (where?) message, and has to re-start registration process from beginning and hopefully this time choose a not taken name.

I installed the developer edition.

mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.7.25, for Linux
PHP 7.2.15-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
Ubuntu 18.04.2

Admin settings → Allow users to register and send conf. email.

I DID set up email settings thru google and sent a test email. it did work.

After logging out, I tried to register a new account. I filled in details and got the following error:
Completely unexpected exception: Expected response code 250 but got code “530”, with message “530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first. u13sm3937813iog.80 - gsmtp "
This should never happend, please inform Flyspray Developers

Obviously, the confirmation email was never sent.

I am going to try to manually add a new user. Will update with outcome.

Got "wrong token" on creating a task whose form were open for a while in browser tab.

That means probably the session timed out on bugs.flyspray.org, so the anti csrf token doesn't existed anymore on the webserver.

It would'nt be a big problem if the browser backbutton works showing the ready written form again, but it was empty.

One solution would be temporarly storing it offline in the browser storages which are available with html5. But open for other simpler solutions..

Flyspray should show a warning, and maybe set the focus back to the field (only when it is a this-one-field-only-form.)

2223GreekBug ReportVery LowSome strings need splitting or replacementUnconfirmed

2124.10.201625.10.2016 Task Description

There is a conflict in meaning in some words. In English past tense (”he closed the task”) and past participle (”List of closed tasks”) is the same word. But in Greek they are two different words (past tense of close: έκλεισε, past participle of close: κλεισμένος/κλεισμένη/κλεισμένο/.../etc → (actually, past participle has 3 genders (male/female/neutral) x 2 grammatical numbers (singular/plural) x 4 grammatical cases (nominative/genitive/accusative/vocative)) = 24 combinations but we’ll deal with this later if needed).

So, strings that now are used both as past tense and past participle, or used both for singular and plural, must split and use a different string when past tense and a different string when past participle or singular/plural.

These strings are:

varvaluenotes
openedOpened It is used in Event log as past tense (meaning: “User X opened Y task” or “Y task was opened by X” → so in Greek must either use past tense or past participle as singular because it’s one task) and it is also used in Overview as past participle (meaning: “List of opened tasks” → so in Greek must use plural). On the other hand, the same message in task’s History uses var taskopened=”Task opened”. Maybe it would be best if var taskopened was used in Event log too instead of var opened. It would solve my problem.

2224GreekBug ReportVery LowSemicolon is a bad separatorUnconfirmed

1124.10.201625.10.2016 Task Description

The symbol “;” in Greek is the question mark. So a list of semicolon-separated values looks like a series of questions in Greek. (looks like this: “cat? dog? rabbit?” ;-))

I suggest replacing semicolons with commas as list separators.

In email lists space is good choice too.

2225GreekBug ReportVery LowGreek uses slash for datesConfirmed

324.10.201622.11.2016 Task Description

Short dates in Greek are represented in the majority of cases with slashes (24/10/2016). Very seldom some people may use the dash form (24-10-2016) and hardly ever the dot form (24.10.2016).

So it would be much appreciated if the slash form were a (working) option because as it is dates are a bit confusing to us, especially in a date-time combination (too many numbers in a not-so-obvious format - brain needs extra time to decode it).

Everything is currently hard-coded. Create a plugin system that allows a module to be simply "dropped into" a plugins/ directory, enabled in the options, and have the plugin just work.

Possibilities might include alternative methods of notification, perhaps a documentation subsystem, or even simple things like voting for tasks.

The user should NOT have to edit existing Flyspray source code to make a plugin work.

I have been working with Eventum (http://www.mysql.org/downloads/other/eventum/) for quite sometime now and in Contrast, I like Flyspray for its simplicity and practicality. But one thing I badly miss (and something that Eventum scores high) is a Workflow Engine. If not a sophisticated W.E., I (as an Admin / Manager) should be able define Role-based State Transition Rules of the Tasks reported in a particular Project. For example, I should be able to implement the following Scenario:

  1. For a "Developer", the subsequent tasks from various states. Likewise for other roles
  2. "Developer" should not be able close out the Bug Reports. He / She can only flag them as implemented. The "Reporter" of the Bug(s) or the "Manager" alone should be able to close out issues
  :
: - it will go on like that ;-)

This Feature, in my opinion, is very crucial for Corporate Organizations to give a serious consideration to Flyspray.

1237Backend/CoreFeature RequestMediumAllow Multiple Owners Per CategoryPlanned
0%
2.04709.04.200710.08.2015 Task Description

Currently, only one owner can be applied per category (at least, that's what the tooltip implies). The ability to add more than one user, a user group, or a mix of the two to a category would be ideal.

Often times, more than one programmer will work on and maintain a feature that cannot be divided into subcategories with the various programmers dispersed accordingly. In such cases, setting all such programmers as owners of the category is beneficial in that they will all receive notifications.

Also, having a parent category's owner receive alerts if no owners are specified for a sub-category benefits from this ability. I may have a "User Interface" group that has all of my UI developers in it; assigning the group to the "User Interface" root category means all relevant developers find out about a new issue that was not directed elsewhere.

One potential conflict does arise with another Flyspray feature. If "Auto-assign a task to the category owner" is enabled, care must be taken to assign no users or the first user to the task; personally, I would prefer no one being assigned and seeing the wording changed to "Auto-assign a task to sole category owners". Worst case scenario would be another option asking if no one or the first user would be assigned to a task in that instance; if a group is specified, the first user in the group would be chosen.
