Edit by peterdd: Topic was discussed earlier on https://github.com/Flyspray/flyspray/issues/130 (edit:It seems Jordan turned “issues” on github.com off in favor of bugs.flyspray.org)
The feature still exists but it is turned off until finished in a secure way. The possibility of sub and parent tasks requires many checks.

It is frustrating losing a well thought issue editing and having it to rewrite.

2459 | User Interface | Feature Request | Low | Attachments on/off and max size setting in Admin Toolbo... | Unconfirmed
| | | 16.02.2018 | 03.03.2018 |
Task Description
It would be great if the Admin Toolbox had an attachments section with an on/off switch, a max size setting, and it would print out all the reasons why it can’t set it to your desired value.
This would help in situations like FS#2458 , it would be more clear if there is a setting to turn on/off attachments instead of turning them on and off by setting the rights if the attachments folder.
This way if the attachments setting is On, the GUI could also print an error “Attachments folder must be writable” when it detects that the writable attribute does not match the desired setting.

2098 | User Interface | Bug Report | Medium | Attached image cannot be downloaded | Confirmed
| 1.1 devel | | 30.01.2016 | 10.01.2017 |
Task Description
Steps:
- Attach an image to a task. - It shows as a link in your task (cf. screenshot “Screenshot from 2016-01-29 18-34-31.png”). - Click on the link.
Result: it opens a “popup” with the image displayed in it. If the image is big, the popup is just so huge the image is not visible without boring horizontal and vertical scrolling (see “Screenshot from 2016-01-30 15-07-26.png” which shows what I see when I click the image link on my task). I can’t even right click to download from the menu since I see no “Save Image As” item. (see Screenshot-no-save-image-in-menu.png).
My workaround was that if I drag and drop the attachment link in the address bar, I finally get the expected image, which I can finally save as! This workaround was hard to find, and I expect most people will just get frustrated of being able to view an image attachment, yet not save it locally.
I proposes the following: - a small “download” icon next to the image link in the task for direct download (without preview). - a “download” link/icon on the top-left of the image display popup (to download while previewing).
And as a side feature (maybe I should make a separate report?), I suggest that by default the image display popup constrains the image to the screen size, with a “see real size” link, so that you don’t get the popup with huge scrolling when opening a big image on a smaller screen.
Note: of course this issue does not appear with non displayable attachment. If I have a zip or a document, it proposes me to download it directly.

| | | 22.11.2008 | 18.04.2009 |
Task Description
In version 0.9.9.5.1 (unfortunately I couldn't select this version in the dropdown list on the left), reminders can only be created and edited by Admins and Project Managers. I recommend to give Assignees the permission to create reminders for themselves. To minimize any programming impact, his may be done as part of the "edit own tasks" permission.
This topic has been reported by Engie as part of Bug #713 for version 0.9.8 as well: "Also it would be useful if a user could create reminder for himself." Although that bug is already closed ("fixed in devel"), this part is not yet solved in the current version.

2112 | API | Bug Report | Medium | Assigned tickets aren't editable for lower privileged u... | Unconfirmed
| | | 31.03.2016 | 11.04.2016 |
Task Description
An assigned ticket can't be edited by a lower privileged user.
Steps to reproduce:
One Project, Two Users. User A is Admin, User B is Basic
A creates a Task.
A take ownership of the Task. (it’s important to do this AFTER saving the task. You cannot assign User A if you are A in this moment. Maybe another Bug...!?)
Now B is allowed to take ownershop too. B click now “Add me to assignees”.
Now B can edit the task.
If B click “save”, the task can’t be saved, because some fields haven’t the correct values (esp: state is now “unconfirmed”). Many error messages said, that unexpected values exist
Some weird moments:
Why can B edit a task? He have no rights to edit tasks...
If B are Basic and have “edit own Task”-Right too, this bug also exist.

| | | 18.09.2018 | 02.11.2018 |
Task Description
Hi, in order for us to push our name (rather than flyspray) on emails, notifications, and GUI we had to edit the language file to replace the text “flyspray” with our install site name. That way notifications come from our company name rather than flyspray.
It would be nice if you could take the site name variable and add it to the language files in all keys that face the public user and all notifications. This would not only prevent editing of the lang file but also make setup alot faster.
Thanks so much.. Dave

Task Description
The only (only!) feature that I have missing in Flyspray is an option to receive email notifications when a new task is created
I think that this could be in the profile of the user, and/or in the main configurations as “send a notification to the -group- (admins?) when a new task is created”
Thanks a lot! flyspray r00lz after all these years, never failed, no bugs, no hacks, fast and efficient! :)
A Happy user.

1237 | Backend/Core | Feature Request | Medium | Allow Multiple Owners Per Category | Planned
| 2.0 | 7 | 09.04.2007 | 10.08.2015 |
Task Description
Currently, only one owner can be applied per category (at least, that's what the tooltip implies). The ability to add more than one user, a user group, or a mix of the two to a category would be ideal.
Often times, more than one programmer will work on and maintain a feature that cannot be divided into subcategories with the various programmers dispersed accordingly. In such cases, setting all such programmers as owners of the category is beneficial in that they will all receive notifications.
Also, having a parent category's owner receive alerts if no owners are specified for a sub-category benefits from this ability. I may have a "User Interface" group that has all of my UI developers in it; assigning the group to the "User Interface" root category means all relevant developers find out about a new issue that was not directed elsewhere.
One potential conflict does arise with another Flyspray feature. If "Auto-assign a task to the category owner" is enabled, care must be taken to assign no users or the first user to the task; personally, I would prefer no one being assigned and seeing the wording changed to "Auto-assign a task to sole category owners". Worst case scenario would be another option asking if no one or the first user would be assigned to a task in that instance; if a group is specified, the first user in the group would be chosen.

2427 | Backend/Core | Feature Request | Low | allow hotlinking (direct links) to uploaded files | Unconfirmed
| | | 07.03.2017 | 09.03.2017 |
Task Description
Currently all attached files get renamed (like “screenshot331.png” → “attachments/14_72a4ca580abcdef69f60b1f”) and they could be downloaded only throught the php script (”/index.php?getfile=1234”) which requires that user must be logged in to view the file. It is not very convenient when you need to show a file to some person who is on mobile phone at the moment or using not a work computer. Also sometimes you might need to share a file with anyone without having them to register at your bug tracker.
I suggest you to add a checkbox like “create a direct link” when uploading a file, which will save the file with original name and extension but adding some random generated prefix (like “screenshot331.png” → “attachments/14_72a4ca580abcdef69f60b1f.screenshot331.png”).
However this poses a high security risk so there should be a list of allowed file extensions (e.g. “jpg, png, txt, pdf, doc, zip”) - only these files could be saved with the original extension. This list should be accessible by the main administrator only, thus the safest option would be storing it inside the “flyspray.conf.php”.

1612 | Backend/Core | Feature Request | Low | Allow Comments by anonymous Users | Unconfirmed
| 2.0 | 1 | 20.10.2009 | 17.01.2013 |
Task Description
I would love a option to allow anom users to write comments! Maybe with CAPCHA... I allow anom users to report bugs, but when I have a question to this bug, or the reporter wants to make a additions, he has to register...
I tried hacking it in the core: In the class.user.php at the end of the get_perms method I added: $this→perms[$proj_id]['add_comments'] = 1;
But I has nothing changed. The I removed the check if the user had the right to make a comment in the template file, now I have a comment field for everyone, but anom user get a error message saying, that they should enter a comment... I searched a lot in the core files, but I don´t find the point where the comment a written in the database... I would a great help if you could give at least a hint :)
Another thing i tried was changing the user contructor, that every user with a negative ID get the ID 2, witch is a special "anom" user. But then you could not log out, a the admin not in...

Maybe the whole “click to active for editing this field” to one click too much. So if the user has the rights to edit the value the form input or action button should be shown when viewing a task. All other people just see the value if they have the right to view the value.

2094 | Email | Bug Report | High | After Upgrade All Users Receive Notifications for All T... | Unconfirmed
| | 1 | 06.01.2016 | 13.01.2016 |
Task Description
I upgraded from 0.9.9 to 1.0-beta2 a few hours ago. I received an error about oauth during the upgrade (didn’t think to take a screenshot). In any case, the upgrade otherwise seemed to go smoothly. When I subsequently closed a few tasks people who weren’t assigned to receive notifications for those tasks, even old consultants whose account I had disabled years ago, received the email notification. I also received lots of bounced emails from accounts whose email addresses were no longer existant.
Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve gone into the database and null’d out the email addresses of old accounts to prevent further spam. Not only did it notify everyone who had an account (active or disabled) but it put their email address in the To: field for all to see.

Task Description
This task can maybe splitted into separate sub tasks.
Task properties
Current situation
Ideas
Multi select option styling
Some (not all, intentional!) browsers support CSS styling of option tags. For these who support it I think option styling is a good usability enhancement:
severity: We use background colors for styling in task list, so we should use the same colors for the select.
priority: maybe, but must be good distinguishable from severity styling. maybe not background, but maybe icons, borders, lines?
task type: This styling would be related to an other task, where I suggest icons/font icons for bugs, feature requests and TODO (see also themes/CleanFS/custom_example.css)
progress: maybe use the green %-bars as background styling
status: If for some status types very intuitive icons exists, they could be used for the options too.
due version: no idea yet, no option styling
reported version: no idea yet, no option styling
Update: CSS of option tags working in multi selects:
Firefox 64: yes
Safari 12: no
Google Chrome 71: no
So only Firefox. The intended styling could be also achieved by Javascript that renders alternative select boxes based on reading the original select boxes and their option attributes and show the user CSS styled div-tag or li-tag based constructs which do not have such restrictions.
Custom fields
challenge/doom level - doom faces: from easy/normal to bloody/angry face
os: logos like tux for linux, devil for bsd, window for ms, apple icon, osX icon, android, apple, iphone/smartphone icon, ipad/tablet icon, ..
But Consider: Different project may need different custom fields. Your gardening project may need no OS version selector.
Make some intelligent positioning and sizing dependent on the count of options of the selects.

| 1.0 | | 07.11.2015 | 18.11.2016 |
Task Description
Both is a bit illogical, but both is currently possible!
1 ←- 1
So when setting the parent task id checked for creating loops is needed:
Loop with 2 tasks: 1 ←- 2 ←- 1
Loop with 3 tasks: 1 ←- 2 ←- 3 ←- 1 Loop with n tasks: 1 ←- ... ←- n < – 1
As I think there are currently no recursive reads that could lead to an endless loop, but should be kept in mind when someone wants to programm rendering a gantt chart. E.g. by limiting the depth of subtasks for example.
